This New Year’s evening, between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., I took a series of buses from the Marina district in San Francisco through the Fillmore and over to the Powell Street BART station, where I took BART back to Lake Merritt in Oakland.  I weep for humanity.  Truly and deeply.
